We re-opened The Old Plough, Stoke d’Abernon back in 2011 after a lengthy makeover. We retained the natural charm and warmth of the bar in the old part of the building whilst demolishing the tired conservatory, replacing it with a light bright restaurant area looking out on to the pergola and lovely garden. Since then The Old Plough seems to be going from strength to strength. Recently we were delighted to be named winner of the ‘Best Country/Village Pub category at the Fullers Pub of the Year contest.
The Old Plough is a 300 year old listed building, which was once a court house, it has a rich heritage which we’re intent on preserving and extending. It once achieved a place in literature, accommodating Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Adventure of the Speckled Band’.
The Old Plough is a smart community pub with great fresh food, where eaters and drinkers alike are looked after with the same friendly and professional service.
We are open all day from 11 am. Food is served 12pm – 9.30pm every day (10pm Fri & Sat)
We think pubs are really for adults! However well behaved younger children are very welcome seated at a table in the bar up to 7pm and in the restaurant until 7.30pm. We do have high chairs available, a kids menu and baby change facility.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the pub area and in the garden (not in the restaurant) – please be aware that your pet may be a hazard to unsuspecting customers in a busy pub!
We have a small car park and are conveniently located a very short stroll from Cobham and Stoke d’Abernon station – on the main Waterloo line. Why not combine a visit with a trip to Wisley Gardens RHS or the stunning Painshill Park which are both just down the road. Alternatively ifootpath have designed a fantastic 4 mile circular walk from our car park – click here for more information – a great way to go for a good walk before a very good lunch!
